Shades of Grey..

Hello Folks, I am back after a long silence.I know the title doesn’t look that attractive, but go through the rest of the post and you will agree that I am making sense here.

Believing that everything is either black or white, no shades of grey, is a sign of a very naive person. Live and learn, and you'll find that kindness, love, tolerance, mercy - all these are only possible by looking at the big picture, instead of focusing on the rulebook.
Do you remember those pantyhose "one size fits all"? Well, they didn't fit anybody. They are like your black and white rule. You can never know all the circumstances of another person's life. If you're going to apply that Rule, you're going to be cruel, unfeeling, intolerant, and judgmental. People who have to have rigid rules are frightened people. They don't trust themselves, they don't want to open up and experience true feelings, and they don't want to exercise their little grey cells.
I'm selfish. I want to be in charge of my own brain. I am supposed to use it. Practice good selfishness.
This abyss you mentioned? What scary story have you fallen prey to?
The black and white Rule makers always want to rule by fear.

The Relevance of ‘Love’:-)

You know what the biggest assurance in life is – love. And you know why it is the biggest assurance, because it is the only thing which can keep us going when we have lost everything else.

It is possible to test honesty in a relationship, like it is possible to test madness. But it is impossible to test love. For the sake of argument, you might say that both honesty and madness do not define love and so are irrelevant, and that love has to withstand the test of time. Honesty may not define love because the tests we subject honesty to are societal. Madness may not define love because vices can so easily attach themselves to it and thrive on it. But doesn’t madness give love the air that it needs to breathe, for without madness love just sits there like a stone, inconspicuous and inanimate. And you know why time cannot test love, because time is cruel and unforgiving. Nemesis is time’s best friend. Love is too naïve to be able to keep up with the games time plays. The match is unfair.

It might break your heart to see someone go but as they say, such is life. Yes, such is life for cowards like you and me. The path of least resistance always comes at a price. The irony is, this path aims to devour the very reason it was chosen for. In this case, the reason is love.

One of the youngest HNI’s in the world - Mark Zuckerberg

Mark Elliot "Zuck" Zuckerberg (born May 14, 1984) is an American entrepreneur who co-founded the social networking site Facebook. Zuckerberg launched Facebook from his Harvard dormitory room on February 4, 2004.The idea came to him because the Harvard administration was unable to implement an online directory in response to student requests.

Mark started Facebook with the intention of bringing the youth to a place where they can share, learn and have a good time. Mark’s success didn’t take too long & soon Facebook became very popular throughout the world making Mark one of the youngest HNI's in the world. The unpredictability of life... ... ...

I came back from a party and my friend informed me that one of our ex-colleague had committed suicide. The name rang a bell, but I couldn’t recollect the face. People say that she had everything, a wonderful career, and the looks and by her general temperament, she had the best stuff going for her. That is what, we saw and thought.
I have friends who swear that money is everything. I have friends who would do anything to put themselves up on television, colleagues who go on harping about how important it is to have contacts and be popular. I don’t underestimate the power of money, nor of influence, but how do you explain the sudden suicide of a girl who had “Everything”. The reason, most people say is seemingly simple and a bit unusual too. She committed suicide, because she was lonely. If we look around our lives we will find there are “So Many” people around us, so actually speaking we aren’t really lonely. The same was true with her. She had lots of people around her, but how many of those could she open her heart to, bare her soul to. For that matter, how many people can we bare our souls to? How many people can we talk to and feel a million times richer than the richest man on earth?
I don’t know her well, but somehow her death teaches me many lessons. The more horrific the situation, the bigger the lesson.
That we need to hold on to our loved ones real tight and invest in deeper relationships. That we need to stop looking for life outside us and look for joy within us, that we need to live our best life, by building our ties and not finding ways to break them. That we need to find happiness in simple things…That’s essence of life!!!
May her soul rest in peace!

The Imperfect Life...

Life is an unsolved mystery and its uncertainty amazes me…for once you may think you are leading a stable life, then someone comes along and leaves you feeling all messed up once again… How do you know what’s right for you…and more importantly who is right for you…you meet so many people on a daily basis and every single person has a different story to tell and unfortunately you too have a role to play in it…Well …every person you meet is a different character in the story called life…you often meet people who are so sweet to you that you start wondering what he/she wants from you…at the same time you come across people who couldn’t care less about you and you wonder whether he/she even has a heart…some people wouldn’t let go no matter how hard you try…and some are just trying to fit in…And the best you can do is to be a person who has good relations with all of them and still manage to be the individual you are…In the past few weeks I realized that no matter how hard you try to think straight and lead a life with no ups and downs…its hardly possible…what may seem perfect to you may be “oh my god” for someone close to you…everybody has their own bunch of problems it’s how you deal with it that makes you different…and as for me, I guess…...I love how imperfect my life is...!!!

... best of both the worlds !

Last night I was having some discussion with my friends which reminded me of something happened decades ago, and I stood contemplating..

A guy in my class once asked me, what is the right direction one should follow in life? Like a good girl I said there is no right or wrong, so, if there is no right or wrong then what is all the fuss about?? We the people very conveniently choose our own “right” and start living with it. What was right to me yesterday is boring for me today and would be stupid tomorrow. Every now and then we go through a time where we recreate ourselves and we get caught in the "turmoil of Rights and Wrongs". And its destiny which decides the right "right" for us, the only thing permanent in this world is Change and it is inevitable. I am a firm believer of destiny so I go wherever it takes me, but sometimes I also feel, this destiny is directly proportional to the opportunities we create for ourselves. If you ask me, I would say, everyone has their own different paths, if you are confident of why you are on this path and know where it is taking you, nothing else matters. Just believe in what you do and even if something goes wrong, you will be able to handle it. Just have that faith in yourself. Out beyond the idea of right doing and wrong doing, there is a field and we should not be afraid of being there. Life is beautiful, let’s not be afraid to take chances !!

Good news for all Tax payers!!

Good news for all Tax payers!

The Union Cabinet on Thursday approved a new set of direct tax rules that proposes to raise income tax exemption limit from 1.6 lakh to 2 lakh, leaving more money in the hands of individuals.

The much awaited DTC or the Bill which seeks to replace the nearly 50-year-old income tax law, is going to be introduced in the parliament very shortly and may then be referred to a select committee of members.

Some key highlights considering the new code are as follows:

• The basic exemption limit is proposed to be raised to 2 lakh from the current 1.6 lakh and corporate tax rate for both domestic and foreign companies proposed is at 30%.
• Senior citizens and women will enjoy a higher exemption to up to 2.5 lakh. There will be no surcharge or cess on companies, thereby bringing the corporate tax rate to 30% from present 34%.
• The new code proposes three income tax slabs—income of up to 2-5 lakh will face 10%, 5-10 lakh will attract 20% and income over 10 lakh will face tax at the rate of 30%. The housing loan exemption of 1.5 lakh would also be available to individual taxpayers on the interest component.

According to the Finance Minister the whole objective is that a plethora of exemptions will be limited. Income tax slabs will be three. Rate of taxes will be taken in the schedule so that they need not be revised every year.

However, the government also proposes to raise the minimum alternate tax (MAT) on book profits to 20% from current 18%. The move could be a big blow for a host of IT and infrastructure companies that pay MAT.

If passed, the new Direct Tax Code will come into action from Apr 1, 2011.
